MUSIC WHILE YOU WORK was a daytime music program broadcast twice daily in the United Kingdom on the BBC. It began broadcasting in June 1940 during World War II, with the intention of helping the war effort. The thought was that the productivity of manual labour could be raised by playing a non-stop medley of popular music at an even tempo, to accompany the working day in factories. The radio program was in this sense perceived as a weapon for national and military growth.
RADIO WHILE YOU WORK SLOWLY (OR) MUSIC TO HELP YOU STOP WORKING is an attempt to slow down or interrupt production. With the transmission on International Workers Day we will examine the relation between radio, art, work and production.
The title of the show also refers to the italian dada-maoist pirate radio station RADIO ALICE. Radio Alice's first transmission took place in Bologna 1976, and became aligned with the autonomism movement. The motto of the italian Radio Alice was: "Everyone should work. But very little, very slowly and make no effort whatsoever."
RADIO WHILE YOU WORK SLOWLY will include an interview with Ansa Lønstrup - Associate Professor at Århus University department for Aesthetics and Culture, who will give her opinion on how we can slow down production by means of radio.

This hyper-entertaining radio broadcast will change your life!
The hosts of the show have been brought in from the stormy and snow capped mountains of the illustrious Smowunoon region. What will happen is by no means certain, however a research into the bowels of fish and other marine based lifeforms has been commenced. The public has expressed increasing demand for large mamals and/or robots to take part, it is however uncertain whether any such above the grade of Trichosurus vulpecula can be acquired. All of earths people and creatures are hereby invited to take part in a never before seen on the radio experiment.
Call in and contribute any sound you like, be it words, melodies or beastly screams of ecstasy or agony!

Århus Arresthus - The prison of Århus is placed right next to Kunsthal Aarhus. We will by means of radio waves break into the prison and transmit auditory break-ins and break-outs for the people on the inside of the walls. In there are prisoners with "short-time" sentences and people that didn't yet get convicted - Some people do time here up to three years.

DOMESTIC UTOPIAS
"Domestic utopias" is an exhibition project that takes place 15.6.-28.7.2013 in NGBK Berlin. The project explores utopian ideas and concepts in architecture and the distribution and valuation of domestic work and care work. Some of our central questions when looking at utopian ideas are: Who is living together and how? Who is doing what? How do we get into a living situation, how do we approriate and maintain it?
In the context of THE TEMPORARY RADIO we will bring together and discuss research from Berlin and Århus, relating the themes of "What do we want?" and "What can we do?" to utopian ideas for living together.

Radio Hypnosis for Learning through Unlearning (RHLU)
Hypnosis is the induction of a state of consciousness in which a person apparently loses the power of voluntary action and is instead highly responsive to suggestion or direction of its own actions. Hypnosis can be used to allow modification of behavior by de-learning habits or norms of behavior.
Every day our radio hypnotist will perform a live Radio Hypnosis for Learning through Unlearning (RHLU) to prepare your mind for what you'll hear during the day. So find a good chair, sit down, make yourself comfortable and open your senses to this unique experience.

LYDTEGNINGER: FREMFØLENDE MED OPLØSNING AF FORNUFTEN
The former group MÅSKE BARE MUSIK now goes under the name LYDTEGNINGER (Sound drawings). For The Temporary Radio Sara Willemoes Thomsen and Kim Sandra Rask will broadcast a live improvised performance accompagnied by Signe Sophie Bøggild's associative spoken words.
"Når vi spiller foregår det hele ved improvisation. Det afgørende for vores spilleri er tilstanden, vi kommer i. Tilstanden påvirker spillet og spillet påvirker tilstanden. Den kan ændre sig undervejs. Lydene vi frembringer påvirker også hinanden og der opstår nye melodier og kombinationer. Og tilstanden påvirker publikum, hvis der er et sådant. Lydlige bevægelser ind og ud af hinanden, nogle vrid, nogle overtagelser og nogle sammenfald.
Der er hver gang et forskelligt udvalg af instrumenter og det er altid forskellige steder, vi spiller. Dette betyder, at omkringværende lyde også spiller med i lydtegningerne og vice versa.
Signe Sophie Bøggild kommenterer denne gang på vores musik, vores spilleri, vores lyde, vores lydtegning. Hun har på forhånd ikke kendskab til det, vi laver. Vi har bedt hende om at kommentere lydtegningerne, mens hun samtidigt hører os for første gang."

RADIO-BALLET
FOR EMPTY SPACES
AUDITIVE ACTIVATION OF UNUSED SPACE.
We will invite you to perform a choreography in the city of Århus with the intention of activating unused spaces. We will lead you through Århus to examine structures of the city and utopian ways of living, working and moving. The radio ballet will try to put life into empty buildings and unused spaces by means of radio transmission? Emtpy spaces and buildings are frames for imagination. How would you like the unused building to be used? How would you imagine the city to look like?
Radio ballet is a concept for collective reception of radio in a certain public place. It gives the dispersed radio listeners the opportunity, to subvert the regulations of the space.
The program will include sound, poetry, interviews, music and reportages from us exploring different unused buildings in Århus - Buildings that have been left unused either as a result of property speculation or investors that couldn't finance the renovation or finish the construction.

THE PIRACY PROJECT
We interviewed Eva Weinmyar and Andrea Francke of THE PIRACY PROJECT - a platform for exploring the spectrum of copying, re-editing, translating, paraphrasing, imitating, re-organising and manipulating. They basically edit, manipulate and copy books and printed material. In April they made a workshop on Piracy Printing in RUM46 in Århus - Their archive is still to be seen as a part of the series of exhibitions, workshops and lectures LÆSERUM at RUM46.

We also interviewed Henriette Heise - one of the co-founders of THE FREE UNIVERSITY - on the project TV-TV - self organized television made by artists and activists in Copenhagen.

QUEER IS YOUR VOICE
A PROGRAM ON THE VOICE, GENDER AND VOICE MANIPULATION
- FROM A QUEER PERSPECTIVE.
The voice functions in a third space in between the person using the voice and the listener. The voice is a queer phenomenon - It operates as a mediator connecting body and language, which are both gendered spaces.
A voice is full of complexity and signs. Just from hearing a voice you get a lot of information about the person speaking. What happens when the sound of the voice is separated from the body? When you can only hear the voice and not see the person speaking? Can you guess the age, the emotional state, the gender of the person. How old am I? How big am I? Do I look beautiful? Am a heterosexual? Am I self-confident? Am I happy?

CALLING DYSTOPIA
"Utopia is nothing without it's counterpart - One man's dream is the other man's nightmare. But the dream is not enough. We need a state of "the Ideal", that is the place where dreams fullfill your needs, rather than setting you off after the next dream hunt, searching for something you think you want."
Jaani Reismann set the scenes for a small interdimentional journey, with a handfull of neatly chosen vinyls, for a trip between utopia and dystopia, attempting to explore territories of dreams and break down boundaries and walls.
"We need less walls - more than ever - the truth is that the reason we seek the "Ideal" - is because we find ourselves in the latter counterpart of the ideal. Man does not know, what he really want's. As long as the "know- ing" we here speak of is of a cognitive or physical nature - the human will never find what he wants. The only way to reach what you want is through feeling. But then you will see, that what you want is not what you want, but that it is what you need and what is necessary! - and when the pittifull hu- man discoveres that, he/she can begin the patient ascent reaching, what he/she needs."
